Hi! I’m Katie.
Yoga found me in a season of feeling lost—and continues to be the practice that brings me back to myself, and now to others.
I found yoga in December 2019 while searching for a way to feel human again when I was postpartum with my second daughter. For years I had felt disconnected from my body, like I was never quite enough, and like movement was something to force rather than feel.
From my very first class, something shifted. I felt safe, seen, and connected to myself in a way I didn’t realize I was missing. As cliché as it sounds, when the teacher said she saw the light in me, I began to tear up.
It was this beautiful reminder that the light was still there, deep inside me, even when things felt SO dark. That moment became the beginning of a much deeper spiritual and personal journey.
It took me about a year before I found my way back to a consistent practice, but once I did, everything changed. I completed my 200-hour yoga certification through Power Life Yoga in 2022, followed by my kid’s yoga teacher training the same year.
I knew right away I wanted to share this practice with children, especially as a mom of two young kids, understanding how important it is for kids to feel safe in their bodies early on and to know that movement can be creative and joyful.
Since then, my practice has continued to hold me through this journey of life, including major spinal surgery and other injuries. Yoga has met me in every season and continues to remind me that we can return to ourselves again and again.
It brings me so much joy to share this practice with others.
Movement belongs to everyone.
My mission:
Happy Heart Yoga & Wellness was created from a simple, deeply felt intention: to offer spaces where people of all ages and abilities can come as they are and feel safe in their bodies while exploring movement that actually feels good—not forced, not performative, and not about getting it “right.”
My teaching comes from the belief that yoga and movement aren’t something you have to earn by being flexible, strong, or experienced. It’s really about your relationship with your body, your breath, and how you move through life.
In my one-on-one sessions, small groups, and kids classes, I try to meet each person where they’re at. Sometimes that means slowing things down, sometimes it means offering options instead of one “way,” and sometimes it’s just reminding you that your body gets to lead.
A lot of traditional spaces don’t always feel that welcoming, especially if you don’t feel like you “fit the mold.” I wanted to create something different—something softer and more human.
With kids, it’s about play, curiosity, and expression without overthinking it. With adults, it’s often about reconnecting, letting go of comparison, and remembering that rest and ease are just as important as effort.
At the center of it all is connection—to yourself, your body, and the present moment. That’s really what I care about most.
